First I have to say that this novel is very reminiscent of old school Fantasy in that it is on the wordy side. One problem is it can drag at times for example when describing Denna, the main characters love interest. The main story line is a quest for revenge that is told as a life story. We start at the end with Kvothe, the main character, hiding as an innkeeper in a small village. A chance meeting has him telling his life story to the Chronicler. This novel is excellent summer reading as the story is a wonderful meandering experience. Mr. Rothfuss has created a very rich world with interesting characters. One of my biggest complaints about new Fantasy is that they tend to drag stories on and on until you get tired of buying the books. This story is a long one but definitely needs more than one book to tell. Kvothe has so much more to him than is seen on the surface and tells his story in a very matter of fact style that keeps the reader wanting more. I am looking forward to the final book in the series.
